We're delighted to welcome you for this little stay in the mountains, in the cocoon we first imagined for our family.
We are Colin and Elodie, parents of 2 young children, and live in Grenoble. Colin is originally from Valmeinier, and we love coming with the children to spend our weekends in the mountains. That's why we designed the apartment so that it would be comfortable with children, safe and adapted for them and for us (no need to carry all the folding crib/high chair/changing table), but where we could come with friends, hence the large number of beds.
Your welcome is important to us, which is why we hope to pass on our good ideas for activities and contacts through this welcome booklet. We hope you enjoy Valmeinier as much as we do, and that our flat makes you feel at home.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, we'll be happy to answer them!
Enjoy your stay at the Chargies'!
Once you have arrived at the flat address (926 Rue des grandes côtes, 73450 Valmeinier), you will be able to park in front of the building, in the unloading spaces, to collect your keys and unload your vehicle. Please note that Saturdays are arrival and departure days for everyone: be nice and don't stay in these spaces for too long (see the Parking section for weekly spaces).
Once you've passed the door of the building, you'll find a corridor leading to the letterboxes on your right:
The diagram should help you. Once you've found the box, enter the 4-digit code we'll give you before you arrive, collect a set of keys to the flat and the cellar, and you're ready to enjoy! Other sets of keys to the cellar and flat hang behind the front door of the flat.
You can unload your skis, bikes or anything else you think is relevant directly from the cellar, and the rest of your belongings from the flat.
After unloading at the foot of the chalet (926 Rue des grandes côtes, 73450 Valmeinier), you can find a space in the free municipal car park further up the road towards the Village (the spaces circled in yellow on the map). You'll be able to stay there all week with no worries.
However, at the busiest of the winter season, if you're going away for the day, it can be difficult to find a space in the evening. We therefore recommend that you use the free shuttles to get around the resort!
Here you'll find all the information you need about the flat and how it's organised!
Shower gel / Shampoo. sanitary protection. Teas / Herbal teas / Coffee. Books. Magazines. Board games.
Valmeinier is an extraordinary little aera of nature, so remember to preserve it: don't overheat, limit your water consumption and collect your rubbish.
In order to respect our neighbours in the building, we would ask you to:
In addition to these building rules, we have added the following rules for our accommodation:
In order to welcome your families as well as our own, we have made various items of equipment available to you:
We leave the instructions for the equipment at your disposal, and rely on you to use it sensibly to avoid any disasters.
Our folding crib can be used for several purposes. It's the Sven Plus, by Lionelo model.
First of all, please note that this bed is not suitable for children over 15kg.
Also, there are two heights you can choose for the child's mattress: as soon as the child can sit up in the bed, you should no longer use the high position. See the instructions for installing the raised mattress.
Finally, the changing table that attaches to the bed cannot support children weighing more than 11kg.

To keep you entertained, we have the following equipment for older guests:
For children, we also have the following available:
The accommodation is made up of 11 adult beds, plus a folding crib, which you can use as you wish:
We provide all the necessary bedding for each bed.
The duvets are 4-season duvets, which means you can adapt the warmth of the duvet to your needs: one is light, ideal in summer or in heated rooms (200 g/m2), the other is perfect for mid-season (300 g/m2). Together, they provide ideal warmth for even the coldest winter weather!
Although we suggest that you set up your duvet on arrival, you can choose from a range of duvets to suit your needs!
We also provide extra duvets for double beds, if required.
The bedding is in labelled plastic boxes, either in the bedroom cupboards, or under the sofa beds in the living room/dormitory for the bedding in this room.
We also provide one pillow per bed, but as everyone has their own preferences, there are two types of pillow. We'll let you find the one that suits you best and work it out with your flatmates!
We also provide a bath sheet (70x140) and towel (50x100) for each adult.
We also provide:
All linen is washed at 60° minimum between rentals.
To reduce our energy consumption, we have fitted the flat with a regulated heating system that can be controlled remotely. We set the temperature in advance so that it is 21°C in the flat between 8am and 10pm, and 19°C at night.
However, you can temporarily raise or lower the temperature of a room manually by turning the cap on the thermostatic valve head as shown in the picture. When the cap is turned, the set temperature is increased/decreased by 2°C compared to the current room temperature. The increase/decrease is active for 1 hour. This is very useful, for example, to raise the temperature in bathrooms before/during showers!
If you would like to change the set points more generally, please contact us.
We have two bins at your disposal: one for household waste (infos-pratiques)30L bag, at the front) and one for sorting packaging (20L bag, bin at the back). Please follow the sorting instructions available here and displayed on the bin door.
The rubbish bins are located at the top of the municipal public car park, by the orange arrow in the photo on the left. They look like this:
Packaging and glass are sorted according to the sorting instructions detailed here:
Our flat is equipped with the following appliances:
And the following small appliances:
Apart from the fridge (online instructions), you'll find all the instructions in the drawer under the oven. Here again, we're counting on your careful use to avoid any incidents!
If you need to, don't hesitate to turn off the water or electricity of the flat. Here's the information you need.
The water supply is located in the wooden cupboard to the left of the entrance door (on the landing). You need to open this cupboard with a triangle key, which is provided in the shelf cupboard in the entrance hall. Next, you'll need to locate our water supply. It is labelled "Combe Orsière". Finally, you can turn the tap on and off.
For electricity, we have two main circuit breakers in the house (formerly two flats):
L'entre deux villes, Valmeinier
Located at the "école" shuttle stop, this is the closest mini-market to the flat. Anthony bakes bread here every day and also offers pastries. Cheese and charcuterie by the slice. Post office. Catering on request.
In Valmeinier 1800 (stop "Maison de Valmeinier"), the mini-market is opposite the Maison de Valmeinier, at the top (opposite the skipass checkouts). The Maison de Valmeinier can be crossed via a staircase or lifts.
The town of Saint-Michel is a 20-minute drive from the chalet. You'll find:
A 35-minute drive from the flat, you'll find a shopping area with a wide variety of shops (large supermarkets, fast food outlets, greengrocers, etc.).
There are no petrol station in Valmeinier (neither at 1500, nor at 1800), but there is one in Valloire: (Total - Station Service de la Vallée d'or, Rte du Télégraphe, 73450 Valloire).
In winter we strongly recommend that you fill up down in the valley before you arrive, as the local petrol station add anti-freeze, which could save you a lot of trouble on cold mornings! There are two petrol stations in St Michel de Maurienne:
The tourist office website lists the restaurants in Valmeinier (1500 and 1800), and their opening times on the following page: https://www.valmeinier.com/mon-sejour/restaurants/tous-les-restaurants/. However, here is a list of the restaurants we recommend (whether for the atmosphere, or the menu, or a combination of both!).
The closest to the flat, Le Brézain is located on the village square at 1500 (the "École" shuttle bus stop). It serves traditional dishes, specialities and pizzas.
The "Barbotin" snow groomer food truck offers simple, high-quality cuisine that changes with the season, using fresh produce from the region and beyond, all in a unique setting (a revamped snow groomer!) and a family atmosphere.
On the menu: burgers, tacos, paninis, croque-monsieur, roast chicken, fresh chips, home-made pastries, crêpes, hot and cold drinks.
In winter, it is located at the top of the "Grandes Drozes" chairlift.
Bookings can be made online at https://lebarbotin.eatbu.com/.
In association with the Valmeinier 1800 bowling alley (les Quilles du Tabarnak), Brittany is invited to the Valmeinier 1800 snow front. We've never been before, so let us know what you think (we love the buckwheat pancake!).
This is a very efficient way of getting between the various points of interest in Valmeinier, without having to get out your car and look for spaces (which can sometimes be complicated at the 1800 resort).
The nearest bus stop to the flat is at the end of the municipal car park (150m walk up towards the village): it's the Les Mélèzes stop, on the purple line. It's the blue star on the map.
This shuttle is a direct route up to the heart of the village of Valmeinier 1500, at the Ecole stop, where you will find:
If you want to get to Valmeinier 1800, you'll have to change shuttle buses at the Plan Périne stop to take the yellow shuttle bus up to 1800!
